The best way to get into Zante from the mainland is to take the ferry over from Killini, which accommodates both cars and foot travellers. The ferry arrives in Zante town and cost on average is about eight euros.
Those who want to arrive from Kefalonia can also catch a ferry over to Aghios Nikolas, which is a smaller harbour located on the Northeast top of Zante.
The ferry rides from both Killini and Kefalonia take about an hour to reach their destination travelling 18 miles. They are run by the consortium of Zakynthian Boats with daily routes available every day during the summer season and nearly every day during the off season. For this reason it is best to call before arriving on holiday to ensure that there is ferry service.
On average the ferry boats from Zante to the mainland depart every two hours in the morning starting at 5:30am and at 14:45, 15:45, and 19:15 in the evening. Ferry boats departing from Killini to Zante depart every hour and a half in the morning starting at 8am and at 17:00, 18:00, and 21:15 in the evening. Ferry boats from Kefalonia to Zante depart at 7:45, 9:45, 17:30, and 19:15.
