The Agios Dimitrios resort area is set against a pretty mountain along the west coast of Zante and is known for being widely untouched by commercialism and free of litter, which is a large problem among many of the top tourist locations across the island.

The resort area and surrounding village takes the name Agios Dimitrios from the Bishop of Catania who once canonized became known as Saint Dimitrios.  A church was built within the village to honour the namesake in the 14th century but sadly was lost in the earthquakes of 1953.

However, there are still some unique historical sites to take in during a visit to this quaint resort village, including a bell tower that is found within a windmill and a small chapel that sits at the centre of Agios Dimitrios.

Although the village is small, there are still a handful of shops offering all the amenities travellers need as well as a few restaurants and taverns that require visitors to drive to and fro.  One of the benefits of taking a drive is the lush mountain scenery and sandy stretching beach shoreline offering great sites to take in.
