The Laganas Resort is widely referred to by most in the know, as both the best and the worst resort to visit within the Greek Islands.  This is due to the fact that it is heavily commercialized which concerns some, but at the same time due to its commercialization is able to offer the most entertainment and dining options on Zante Island.

In fact, over one kilometre of the Laganas beach is lined with cafes and bars offering everything from souvenirs, to British food, to bargain booze.

The Laganas resort has a very loud reputation and is known as a party resort with people out at the clubs every hour of the day. Deafening music from the bars and clubs can be heard throughout the beach and general resort area at all times of the day due to the fact that there are about 100 bars along the strip compared to the ten restaurants.

However, the beach that surrounds the Laganas resort is one of the largest on the island reaching for about 9km that offer firm sands and shallow waters.  It is also a prime location to see a turtle nesting although this has caused a lot of environmental controversy as the local business men do not like any measures that cut into their profits.
